A similar malware named Havex Malware is designed for the cyber attacks on the organisations associated with the energy sector.

What is Stuxnet Malware?

Back in 2010, Stuxnet worm was designed to destroy the Iranian nuclear project. Stxunet has three modules. Worm which run and copies itself, link file which creates a link between the copies and rootkit which hides the malicious files and all.

What is Havex Malware?

Havex malware is similar to stuxnet worm which is designed to infect the SCADA and ICS systems. All the hydroelectric and nuclear power plants can be destroyed with just a single keystroke. Havex malware is not only a worm or malware only but also a Remote Access Trojan(RAT). It is used by many software designing companies to target some specific legitimate apps. How Havex Malware works?

When you install a trojan effected software, a file named mbcheck.dll will be created. Now this mbcheck.dll file is actually the Havex malware. It would serve as a channel through which the other files can be downloaded.

How was Havex malware discovered?

A famous security firm F-Secure, discovered backdoor:W32/Havex.A. During the scanning of the system, there were total 88 varriants of Havex RAT found which were trying to gain access over the harvest data. In total 146 command and control servers were found affected and in turn tracing the 1500 IP addresses.

Is this Havex Malware really dangerous?

Its just a single keystroke and whole of the power grid, hydroelectric plant, nuclear plant of the country are shut down. In 2010 the whole Iran nuclear project was shutdown due to Stuxnet worm. Havex malware is similar to that.
