Device Converting breath to speach invented by 16-year Old

A special Device Converting breath to speech has been recently invented by an Indian Student, Arsh Shah Dilbagi. The device is named "TALK". Arsh Shah Dilbagi is 16-year-old high school going student who has invented this portable and affordable device which will help out millions of people around the globe who are suffering through different disabilities like ALS, Parkinson's etc. These people be now able to communicate only using their breath.

Arsh is from Haryana Panipat, India and is enlisted as the only finalist from Asia in 15 global list of Google Science Fair 2014, this is competition which is up for all children from 13 to 18 years of age.

Morse code are being used to convert the breath signals into the speech signals. Previously only, Stephan Hawking had a device that helped him out for communicating with others, but it was very costly and bulky. This device is said to cost only $80.

Working of Device

The TALK working is changing the breath signals into electrical signals using a device called MEMS Microphone. A pressure sensitive diaphragm is used which is directly used with a silicon chip and an amplifying device which used for amplify the signal, so that user's breath can be audible. When two different breaths into the device, with different intensities & also different timing, some Morse codes are spelled out. Then two different microprocessors are used for converting these electrical signals into the speech signals.

These Morse codes can be converted into many different languages. Its claimed to be featuring nine different voice. Dilbagi reported, "After testing the final design with myself and friends and family, I was able to arrange a meeting with the Head of Neurology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and tested TALK (under the supervision of doctor and in controlled environment) with a person suffering from Parkinson's Disease & SEM ,the person was able to give two distinguishable signals using his breath and the device worked perfectly."

Just for $80

The main feature of this device is that its affordable and just for $80 which is INR 5000 (approx.) Arsh as provided information about this device below:
